Academics:
UNIVERSITY COURSES / CREDITS
All courses are upper-division, taught in English, and fully accredited. Each course is worth 3 US/Canadian semester credits. Credit for courses is granted by Viator Foundation in the form of a transcript showing the number of earned credits, the course level, and grades for each course. It is recommended that students make arrangements for the transfer of credits with the appropriate official at their university before leaving for Argentina.

The Academic Approval Form is provided as a tool to help achieve this end. Upon completion, this form should not be sent in with the application. Rather, it should be kept in a safe place for future reference since it will be helpful in obtaining proper credit for our courses at the home university.

Student Life:
HOUSING
Students are placed in houses or apartments. They have the choice of living with a family or with a group of Argentine students. These families or student groups are carefully selected by Viator. Living with a family or with a group of native students is one of the fundamental objectives of the program. This makes it possible for the international student to truly interact and bond with Argentines.

MEALS
Half board is included in the price of the program. Students have several options for remaining meals, choosing to cook or eat out. In addition, lunches or dinners can be purchased for a very minimal price. The cost of food in Argentina is very low (an average meal with main dish, side dish, drink, and tip costs around 4-7 USD).

ORIENTATION
In order to familiarize students with their new surroundings, a day orientation period is scheduled at the beginning of the Program.

After meeting the host families and settling down in their new homes, students will take part in a series of activities designed to familiarize them with the program, their classmates and professors, and the city of Córdoba.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES / FIELD TRIPS
All of the recreational activities which the Leadership program offers have two purposes. The first is to create points of contact with the Argentine way of life, whether this be the simplicity of our landscape, our people or our history. The second is to develop a sense of community among the international students. Expose yourself to a new culture. We offer weekly cultural activities, including tango lessons, city tour, and the famous Argentinean b-b-q. Students will also have the opportunity to take weekend trips.

Location:
CORDOBA
The city of Córdoba was founded on July 6, 1573 by Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera. It became a center of education during the colonial period; one of the first universities of the Americas was established here in 1613. This is a town that is proud of its history and its long tradition of learning. Today Córdoba is one of the university cities of Argentina, and it is also the capital of the province. Spanning both sides of the Suquía River, and lying at the foot of the magnificent Sierra Grande mountain range, Córdoba is a charming metropolis where the new and the old blend together, contributing to the attractive character of the city. Neo-gothic churches from the colonial period stand beside new high-rise buildings and modern shopping malls. It is a city for the humanities, which hums with cultural activities. At the same time, Córdoba embraces some of the old traditions. In all Argentina, it is one of the cities most representative of typical Argentine culture.

GEOGRAPHICAL ADVANTAGES
Córdoba is located in the very center of Argentina. Because Argentina is such a large country, being situated in its center is advantageous. From Córdoba it is possible to visit several important tourist attractions, including Cuyo and the western provinces which lead to the Andes and then on to Chile. For those who would like to travel further, there is easy access to the old traditional northern provinces that form a bridge to Bolivia and Perú with the magnificent Machu Picchu. In the Northeast, the breath-taking Iguazú Falls are also only a few hours from Brazil and Paraguay. Because Córdoba is so central, students who come to study here have a unique living experience, which is further enhanced by the warmth of the people of Córdoba, and the possibility of making interesting excursions from this starting point.

Córdoba is also ringed by small villages where the vestiges of Spanish colonization can be observed, especially the Jesuit contribution. These forgotten sites in the hills were important outposts of the Viceroyalty of Río de la Plata, and they are included in the field trips of Viator classes on culture and history.
